Making cocktails has become one of my favorite holiday traditions. Whether we’re at home or traveling (like this year), my brothers, cousins, and sister-in-law all crowd into my kitchen by 5 p.m. daily as we celebrate Christmas and New Year’s! And the drink they keep asking for? A spicy, minty Moscow Mule.
The spicy twist started when my brother, Red, asked if I could add heat to his Mule. Honestly, I’d never thought of it before—but I loved the idea.
That was years ago, and back then, I used cayenne. Now, we prefer jalapeños for their flavor!
The Details:
Ingredients – with alcohol:
- Vodka
- Lime juice
- Pomegranate juice
- Mint
- Ginger beer
- Sugar (for the sugared mint)

Just a glass! But if you have Moscow Mule mugs, use those—they’re so festive!
Steps:
Step 1: Mix the drink
Grab a cocktail shaker or a glass jar with a lid. Combine vodka, lime juice, pomegranate juice, jalapeño slices, and torn mint. Shake for 1–2 minutes. (Note: The longer you shake, the spicier it gets!)
Step 2: Pour over ice
Choose your glass—Moscow Mule mugs are extra fun! Fill it with ice, pour in the mix, and top with ginger beer.
Step 3: Add sugared mint & serve
Make it pretty with a sugared mint sprig and pomegranate arils. So festive!
